I believe
the stones sculpt me. Each piece has presented a new challenge
in my life. There is always a parallel between when I impose my
ideas upon the stone and when I impose my will upon my life.
As an irish New Yorker transplanted in Taos, New
Mexico my works reflect both atmospheres. My rocks are often retrieved
from excavation sites deep below
New York City's sidewalks. I then transport these minerals to
New Mexico where there is enough space and sunlight to create
a new reality for these minerals.
I hope that the transformations I make in each rock can communicate
some deeper sense of space and time that is felt in the magic
between the desert and the city.
